Faculty-Led Travel, Done Right
At ITF, we believe that education is most powerful when it’s experienced. That’s why we specialize in faculty-led programs – custom-built around your course content, learning goals, and academic calendar. Unlike traditional study abroad programs, faculty-led tours give professors control over what’s taught and how it’s taught. Every activity, visit, and location is intentionally selected to support learning outcomes.
We provide a complete end-to-end service, managing all logistics so that faculty can stay focused on leading students and facilitating academic connections. Francesca – Founder and Director
With a background in international education and certifications as a tour guide and travel agent, Francesca is the founder and director of ITF – International Tours by Francesca. Drawing on years of global experience, she designs faculty-led programs across Europe, Africa, Australasia, and Asia, with a focus on cultural depth and academic purpose. Her work is rooted in a passion for connecting people and place, whether through her Italian heritage or her long-standing ties to Southern Africa.
Filippo – Director of Programs, Sub-Saharan Africa
Based in Cape Town, Filippo brings over two decades of experience designing academic programs throughout Southern Africa. With a strong understanding of regional history, environmental issues, and cultural dynamics, he leads the development of immersive, faculty-led tours that introduce students to the complexity and beauty of the African continent.
Mia – Student Travel Leader
Mia has traveled to over 30 countries and brings a passion for cross-cultural connection and visual storytelling. As an on-site student leader, she supports group dynamics, communication, and safety, while capturing the spirit of the tour through her photography.
Gareth – Director of Sales & Communications
Gareth brings over 30 years of experience in international sales and the travel industry. At ITF, he leads faculty outreach, communications, and partnership development. From the first inquiry to final feedback, Gareth ensures that every program is clearly communicated, well-supported, and built on strong relationships.
Lucia – Research Intern & Program Developer
Lucia holds a degree in Education from the University of North Carolina and supports the academic design of ITF’s custom itineraries. She assists with program research, curriculum alignment, and development of pre-departure materials, helping ensure that each tour reflects faculty goals.
Cameron – Accounts Manager
Cameron manages program budgeting, invoicing, and financial logistics for all ITF tours. With a Masters Degree in Accounting from NC State, he ensures transparency, accuracy, and smooth communication with faculty and university finance teams.
